As the IT Business Unit Director, you will serve as a strategic technology leader within the IT organization, with a strong partnership to the Delivery segment. In this dual-reporting role, you will act as the primary liaison between the Delivery operations management team, and IT, ensuring that technology solutions are aligned with business objectives and operational excellence.
You will lead the optimization, implementation, and continuous improvement of construction technology platforms to drive digital transformation, enhance field productivity, and support project delivery excellence. This role requires a deep understanding of construction workflows, strong leadership and communication skills, and hands-on experience with construction management systems.
The IT Business Unit Director will co-locate with Delivery’s executive leadership to allow participation in business unit staff meetings, project reviews, strategic planning sessions, etc. The IT Business Unit Director will also participate in IT’s staff meetings, budget planning, strategic planning sessions, and project reviews.
Strategic Partnership & Leadership
• Serve as the technology champion for the Delivery segment, aligning IT initiatives with operational goals.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to define and execute the digital strategy for construction delivery.
• Represent the voice of the field and project teams in IT planning and prioritization.
Preconstruction Support
• Partner with estimating and preconstruction teams to digitize bid management workflows.
• Lead configuration and enhancement of estimating tools and quantity takeoff processes.
• Support subcontractor and vendor onboarding through digital prequalification workflows.
Project Execution Enablement
• Oversee implementation and optimization of Procore modules supporting RFIs, submittals, drawings, and document control.
• Improve field productivity tracking, including labor hours, crew management, and timecard workflows.
• Lead quality and safety initiatives through digital inspection templates, incident tracking, and daily logs.
• Streamline coordination workflows including, issue tracking, BIM model management, and clash detection.
Construction Financial Management
• Collaborate with project controls and finance to support budgeting, cost tracking, and forecasting in Procore.
• Configure workflows for commitments, contracts, change events, and change orders.
• Partner with finance to optimize subcontractor invoicing and payment processes.
• Provide limited support for ERP integration touchpoints (e.g., budget sync, invoice approvals, Procore interfaces).
Resource & Equipment Management
• Lead implementation of tools for labor and equipment planning, scheduling, and allocation.
• Implement systems for tracking equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance.
Collaboration & Communication
• Ensure real-time collaboration through centralized access to project data and documents.
• Champion document management best practices, including version control and audit trails.
• Facilitate digital meeting management, including agendas, minutes, and action tracking.
Reporting & Analytics
• Design and deliver dashboards and reports to provide insights into project performance and compliance.
• Analyze system usage and data trends to drive adoption and process improvement.
Workflow Automation & Governance
• Design and implement automated workflows for RFIs, submittals, invoices, and contracts.
• Ensure routing and notification logic aligns with organizational policies.
• Promote data governance and consistency across Procore modules.
Platform Optimization & Support
• Monitor system performance and user feedback to proactively resolve issues.
• Stay current on Procore and other supporting applications’ updates, and construction tech trends, to recommend enhancements.
• Provide training, documentation, and support to drive adoption and continuous improvement.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in IT or construction technology, including roles such as Sr. Business Analyst or Product Manager.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Procore or similar platforms.
• Deep understanding of construction project lifecycles, from preconstruction to closeout.
• Experience configuring and supporting Procore or similar platforms’ modules (RFIs, Submittals, Drawings, Budget, Invoicing, etc.).
• Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering and user story development.
• Familiarity with construction financial workflows and ERP integrations (e.g., Oracle JDE).
• Proficiency in process mapping, workflow optimization, and data analysis.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience with Agile or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Procore Analytics).
