Overview

The Energy Analyst II is responsible for analyzing utility and building automation data to assist with the review and evaluation of energy and cost efficiency opportunities. An Energy Analyst will frequently interact with clients, contractors, and engineers to fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of existing building and its heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Assist with the review of energy, weather, and building automation data to identify facility operational issues affecting energy consumption, comfort, and/or code compliance.
  • Assist with the identification and evaluation of improvements for energy or cost reductions, including calculating energy cost savings.
  • Assist with the development of recommendations to address any identified operational issues.
  • Coordinate with clients, energy analysts, engineers, construction managers, and commission agents during all appropriate project stages to assist in the continuous monitoring of energy and HVAC performance as well as implementation of recommendations.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports for project stakeholders summarizing all discoveries.
  • Assist with the collection, review, and analysis of data collected from field surveys and utility data.
  • Uphold the Company owner advocacy philosophy, mission, and core values.
  • Perform the assigned duties with minimal supervision, while working in a team problem-solving environment.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft applications.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast paced environment.
  • Well versed in the industry.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Engineering Intern (EI) licensure.
  • CEM, CMVP, CEP, CEA, EEP, or BEP certifications through the Association of Energy Engineers or equivalent.
  • Experience with energy efficiency programs.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems.
  • Experience in analyzing utility data.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial HVAC systems.
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Python, Tableau, Jupyter Notebook, or R.

Travel Requirements

  • 5-10% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Assesing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
