Overview

The Senior HSE Manager is responsible for assisting in the overall supervision and administration of safety for Business Unit projects to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Managing project safety efforts to prevent accidents and injuries while communicating details of safety conditions to the HSE Director and various levels of Business Unit supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees staff of HSE professionals and ensures consistent direction with Corporate HSE strategy and vision.
  • Provides HSE leadership and direction to staff and region consistent with Corporate expectations.
  • Maintains broad knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and familiarity with relevant environmental laws.
  • Receives complaints and reports on safety concerns and conducts proper and documented investigations.
  • Serve as main point of contact for workplace injuries, accident investigations and near-misses within respective region.
  • Visits sites regularly to coordinate and/or conduct jobsite inspections and ensure implementation of the correct safety policies and procedures.
  • Participates in developing and conducting field safety orientation training where appropriate.
  • Ensures inspection of machinery, equipment, and working conditions is conducted for compliance with regulatory requirements and safe work practices.
  • Observes workers to determine compliance with regulatory requirements and company expectations.
  • Conducts audits and assessments as required to capture leading indicators. Distributes results and corrective actions to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Conducts investigation of accidents per program procedures to establish root cause for use in recommending preventive safety measures. Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and updated in a timely fashion.
  • Documenting all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions or behavior.
  • Represents the Company in meetings with government bodies and other agencies on matters regarding workplace health and safety.
  • Keeps abreast of updates for safety or legal regulations on workplace safety and environmental issues.
  • Maintains knowledge in safety criteria of OSHA CFR-29 1926 Construction, 1910 General Industry, and ANSI standards.
  • Oversees regional HSE communications.
  • Coordinates or delivers basic first aid skills, CPR, and prevention of workplace accidents.
  • Maintains knowledge in safety criteria of OSHA CFR-29 1926 Construction, 1910 General Industry, and ANSI standards.
  • Documents training delivered.
  • Oversees region's drug testing policy, procedures, and operational implementation.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related technical field.
  • 10 years of previous experience leading HSE for a regional organization, MEP construction.
  • OSHA Outreach Trainer.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED Trainer.
  • Working knowledge of government regulations, hazard control methods, and industrial hygiene.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct training and influence organizational behavior.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • BCSP certification(s): CSP, ASP, GSP, OHST, CHST

Travel Requirements

  • 25-40% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Climbing stairs.

Pay Range

USD $111,000.00 - USD $149,000.00 /Yr.
